Abstract

Background. An increase in the biological diversity of natural and artificial phytocenoses is possible only through the introduction of woody plants, which should be assessed for prospects. The aim of this work is to elucidate the extent and nature of the impact of major climatic factors on dynamics of development and prospects of introduced species in the taiga species of Abies Mill.
Materials and methods. The study of introduced species of conifers was carried out in the Botanical garden of PetrSU. Phenological observations were conducted during the 18 years from May to September every 2–3 days. Assessment of feasibility of woody plants introduction was carried out according to the visual observations. Climatic data were registered at meteorological station Soligorskoe (Karelian hydrometeorological Observatory). According to the results of observations of the plant development and the climatic factors formed a Bank of data processed using the methods of basic statistics, and factorial analysis of variance.
Results. The timing of the onset of swelling and opening of vegetative buds, as well as linear growth of shoots in species of the genus Abies depend on the current temperature regime of the air. Between the dynamics of the studied environmental factors and the timing of the phenophases established perfect correlation. Its value is determined by the biological characteristics of the species, period of exposure factors and the particularity of the phenophases. The fastest development of vegetative sphere begins and ends at the A. sibirica and A. balsamea, and later – in A. holophylla and A. alba.
Conclusions. The dynamics of the development of introduced species Abies is mainly determined by the temperature of the air. The most promising for gardening of settlements (with a low degree of contamination with pollutants) should recognize the A. sibirica and A. balsamea.
